I’ve been teaching women's self defence for approximately 15 years and in my day job I work with citizen involvement and communication for Aalborg Municipality. I believe there is such a thing as “death by powerpoint” and especially since Covid I have worked almost exclusively with Graphic Facilitation in different formats when teaching self defence - simply because it is fun, engaging and it works!! Want to learn how?ÂÂÂÂWhat you will get:Graphic facilitation uses drawings and symbols to create clear, engaging and powerful communication. GF is the use of simple, graphic elements, that enhance meaning and understanding. The combination of words and symbols provide a shortcut to intuitive understanding and makes the information more accessible both during and after class.ÂYou will learn the background into why graphic facilitation is such a powerful tool when teaching - especially teaching courses that switches between “passive” presentation of theory and physical/psychological skill build.ÂYou do not need specific skills to be a graphic facilitator - all you need is curiosity, a playful attitude and some basic materials (for this you will need is 15 sheets of blank paper, a thin black marker or pen, a thick black marker and one highlighter pen) - and a lot of you are already practicing it...:)ÂIn the workshop I will show you:
-
HOW graphic facilitation can be used in classes
-
WHAT the basic 4 elements are (yes there are only 4, the rest is practice and dazzle)
-
YOU can play with graphic facilitation - (yes we will have time to practice our skills IRL online)
ÂThis first section is available to anyone so please feel free to share outside of the 500Rising network.ÂPart two is for 500Rising Credentialed Professionals (Endorsed Colleagues and Licensed Instructors). Final Note from Iben "In november 2026 I am co-publishing a book on women´s self defence and empowerment and it contains a variety of the nativistic sketches I also use in class, and I will gladly share them with you.
Together, we’ll talk about how you incorporate GF in your teaching (more than you are already doing) and hoe to use it more effectively.
If you can’t make the live session but have a particular question or concern you’d like me to address, feel free to DM me directly via FB Messenger before october 10th. I’ll address your question during the session so you can review it later."
